WINDY KNOLL GOLF CLUB (937) 390-8898
Ohio golf course review
The golf course at Windy Knoll Golf Club is one of the newest in the Springfield area and an excellent addition to the rich golf tradition of Ohio. This Brian Huntley links style course honors this tradition while masterfully preserved and integrated many of the characteristics of the original horse farm. You're sure to enjoy the course in addition to the wealth of amenities, adding comfort and convenience to your golf experience.
Clubhouse amenities include a fully stocked pro shop with name brand equipment and apparel, a snack bar, full banquet accessibility, and an outdoor patio with a fireplace and a view of the 9th green. Practice facilities include a grass range with 5 target greens and course like conditions with bent grass teeing stations, fairway and greens. The short game area has it all; chipping, putting, and sand play.
This links style course features wide landing zones with thick rough and heavy natural grassy areas surrounding the fairways. The greens are well guarded by mounding, bunkering, water, and the natural contours of this well conditioned course. The large putting surfaces are mostly flat with some undulation and a few multi-tiered complexes. The short (half sized) flags seem to make the greens look even larger than they are. Water is in play mostly on the back nine - only 2 holes on the front and 8 on the back.
Windy Knoll is a par 71 for men and 72 for women. The long par four 7th plays as a short par five from the ladies tee. Four sets of tee boxes measure in distances and slopes of 6834 yards/135 slope, 6400 yards/130 slope, 5939 yards/128 slope, and 5101 yards with a slope of 118 for women playing the forward tees.
The yardage on course is well marked on sprinkler heads which are measured to center green as well as 150 yard posts in the middle of the fairway. Scorecards include hole diagrams with valuable pin placement info on a chart with front middle or back locations. There are more than 84 sculpted sand bunkers which come into play along side of the fairway landing zones as well as greenside. Water comes into play, mostly in the form of ponds and lakes, on 10 holes.
