STONE RIDGE GOLF CLUB (419-353-2582)
Ohio Golf Course Review
Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green - just west of the stadium and campus, is an Arthur Hills traditional links style design with six scenic lakes, strategic bunkering and memorable collection of par threes, that make it one of the top golf experiences in the region. Once the course was completed, Arthur Hills commented " Since Bay Harbor, I have never been more proud of a design than I am of Stone ridge"!
The property features a nice clubhouse with pro shop, locker rooms with showers, plus a beautiful restaurant, lounge and outdoor patio, as well as banquet and outing facilities. Weddings are a specialty, as experienced staff members are adept in preparing for functions that range from elegant sit down dinners to creative grazing stations. The property also boasts the best membership values in Ohio with low monthly dies and lots of extras.
Practice facilities at Stone Ridge include a targeted driving range with grass and mat hitting stations, plus a large green for putting and chipping. On course, yardage markers posted at 100, 150 and 200 yards are supplemented by 150 yard stakes on all par fours and fives, as well as sprinkler heads that are measured to the center of the green. Color coded flags indicate front, middle and back hole locations, with info also posted on scorecards.
The layout features a mildly rolling terrain that meanders through a very upscale residential community, with trees seldom in play. The fairways are landscaped with mounding and bunkers as well as with tall fescue grasses that are situated along the perimeters. The mildly raised green complexes are medium and size and mild in undulation, with swales and mounds providing a challenge for approaches that miss the putting surfaces.
There is often ample room off the tee and sufficient room greenside for recovery opportunities. Five sets of tee boxes offer golfers of all skill levels an opportunity to choose a set that matches their game. The tips measure 7064 yards and play to a 134 slope. Alternate sets play to distances and slopes measuring 6527 yards/126 slope, 5983 yards/118 slope, 5247 yards/111 slope for men and 121 for women, and 4993 with a slope of 118 for ladies hitting from the forward tees.
Stone Ridge is a fine golf experience, with manicured conditioning from tee to green. Rates are quite affordable and walking is allowed at all times. For more information, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
