SOUTH TOLEDO GOLF CLUB (419-385-4678)
Ohio Golf Course Review
South Toledo Golf Club is a full service year-round facility that is open 364 days a year - and includes an 18-hole golf course, indoor winter golf dome, pro shop with a full line of brand name equipment plus club fitting, and snack bar. PGA instruction is available all year long, either on the outdoor range or inside the spacious dome during winter months.
The golf course was built in 1925 and has several thousand trees - some 75 years old, and features undulating, bent grass greens that are well protected by sand bunkers. In total 41 sand traps can be found greenside or near the landing zones of the fairways, which also feature bent grass turf. Water comes into play in some shape or form on10 holes.
There are five sets of tees, making it possible for golfers of all skill levels to choose a set that fits their game. The tips measure 6508 yards with a 124 slope, while alternate sets play to distances and slopes measuring 6261 yards/122 slope, 5923 yards/119 slope for men and 125 for women, 4910 yards/105 slope for men and 114 for women, and 4632 yards with a 108 slope for ladies hitting from the forward tees.
On course yardages are posted on the fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and are measured to the front, middle and back of the green. Sprinkler heads are also marked on all par fours and fives, and position markers on the flagsticks indicate the day's front, middle or back pin placements. The gently rolling terrain and proximity from green to tee provides a good walking experience for those wishing to do so.
The indoor practice facility is open from November thru April, and there also are lockers in the men's changing area. Other amenities include ball & club washers plus yardage booklets that are standard on each cart. The scorecards also provide helpful diagrams of each hole.
