FOWLERS MILL GOLF COURSE (440-729-7564)
Ohio Golf Course Review
Fowlers Mills Golf Course is a Pete Dye Signature design that has been ranked as the Top Public Course in Ohio by Golf Magazine, and has been recognized as one of the top 100 courses in the Country by Golf Digest Places to Play! Located in Chesterfield, just 30 minutes east of downtown Cleveland, Fowlers Mill presents 27 holes of fantastically designed championship golf that have served host to several U S Open qualifiers.
The facilities on this 4-star (Golf Digest Places to Play) property include a modern, western reserve-style clubhouse with banquet/event room that can accommodate up to 225 guests in a beautiful setting, featuring picturesque views of the golf course. There is a pro shop plus snack area serving breakfast, lunch and dinner items, and practice facilities include a grass range and putting/chipping green.
Three sets of tees on each of the nines play to slopes measuring between 110 and 136 for men, and between 118 and 150 for women. The Lake is the longest nine, with its three sets of tees measuring 3629, 3386 and 2956 yards. The Maple is the shortest at 2989 and 2706 yards (just two sets of tees), and the River Course is in between with yardages measuring 3396, 3237 and 2917 yards.
In total (on the 27 holes) there are approximately 76 sand bunkers in play near the landing zones or greenside, and water hazards come into play in the form of a crossing creek or beside a large lake on 6 holes, with a few forced carries. The Lake and River combination is by far the most challenging, with the most bunkers and water hazards situated on these two nines - with a total length of over 7000 yards. The Maple nine is quite user-friendly.
There is a mix of open, tightly tree lined and split fairways - which keeps it interesting fro all levels of players. On course golfers will find color coded flags that indicate the day's pin placements, and sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green. Cart paths have 100, 150 and 200 yard markings, and 150 yard stakes are situated in the middle oft eh fairways on all par fours and fives.
Fowler's Mill is one of the region's most popular golf courses, and we can understand why! Interesting and challenging design with a good amount of variation, nice conditioning and a friendly staff - for more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
