Ohio Golf Course Review
Elks run golf club, rated by Golf Week Magazine as a top ten course you can play in Ohio, is a premier Greg Norman designed 18-hole championship golf course. The property is located in Batavia, 20 minutes from Cincinnati. This is a gorgeous golf course, and the surrounding environment is secluded from any residential development which makes it a beautiful and peaceful golf experience.
The layout begins with wide open fairways featuring large landing areas off the tees on the initial 6 holes. The 7th hole leads into a wooded area, with a thick forest of trees that remains in play through the 14th. The remaining holes once again play along a fairly open terrain. For much of the course the cart path drives uphill from greens to elevated tee boxes, creating downhill tee shots on nearly every hole.
In total there are over 45 greenside and fairway bunkers, nine holes with water hazards in play, and seven greens have bridges leading to them. Creeks in front and around the putting surfaces provide plenty of challenge on approach shots. If golfers can avoid these challenges, there are plenty of easy up and down opportunities as the greens and surrounding areas are fairly flat.
On property is a beautiful practice facility which includes a targeted grass driving range, a large putting green, and a short game area with a sand bunker. The clubhouse includes a stocked pro shop, locker rooms with showers, a full bar, restaurant serving breakfast lunch and dinner, and a banquet room.
There are four sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6833 yards/136 slope, 6486 yards/133 slope, 6053 yards/130 slope, and 5334 yards with a slope of 121 from the forward tees. Information is included on all score cards with 6 possible pin placements, and depths and widths of all greens.
