Bunker Hill Golf Club in Medina is a four star championship golf course (Golf Digest Places to Play) which was voted as the "best of the best" for the region by readers of the Medina County Gazette in 2004. Designed along rolling topography just south of Cleveland, this course features tall strands of trees that line manicured undulating, fairways, with strategic bunkering and scenic water hazards along the way.
There are just over 20 soft sand bunkers situated greenside or near the landing zones off the tee, and ponds, lakes or streams affect play on 8 of the holes. Though long enough that driver is called for frequently, golfers will also be challenged to use strategy to reach the correct landing areas, particularly on some of the beautifully designed doglegs. Land on the greens in regulation and good scores can be had, as these bent grass putting surfaces run very true and consistent.
On property is a full service pro shop stocked with the best in equipment, apparel and accessories, plus the Bunker's Sports Bar & Grill with 2 full-service bars, pool table and video games, 20 television sets including 7 large screens, a gorgeous deck overlooking the course and a complete "American Grill" menu. This is a great venue for special event bookings! Practice facilities include indoor (7 state of the art simulators with over 50 courses to choose from) plus a putting/chipping green.
Four sets of tees play to distances and slopes measuring 6711 yards/124 slope, 6196 yards/119 slope, 5701 yards/114 slope and 5058 yards with a slope of 114 for ladies hitting from the forward tees. As these slopes indicate, this is a women friendly layout, and also is quite playable for all levels of skill. The doglegs, undulations and hazards keep the round interesting.
On course yardage markers in the middle of the fairways and on the cart path are measured to center green from 100, 150 and 200 yards away. Sprinkler heads are marked with measurements to the center along with 150 yard stakes. Colored flags on all greens provide the daily pin placements.
Bunker Hill Golf Course was voted Ohio Golf Course of the Year in 2004 by the Ohio Golf Course Owners Association, and has been awarded "Best of the Best" Golf Courses 5 years running by the Medina County Gazette Readership.
