Browns Run in Middletown (Central Ohio) is a William and David Gordon design that features bent grass fairways and greens and four sets of tees that afford golfers of all skill levels to enjoy a fair yet challenging experience. With fairways that are lined with pines, hardwoods and willow trees, Browns Run features fine playing conditions and reasonable rates.
The course features 5 sets of tee areas with the tips playing to 6831 yards with a 133 slope, while alternate sets measure in distance and slope - 6384 yards/129 slope, 5947 yards 125 slope for men and 6015 yards/129 slope for women, 5001 yards/115 slope for men and 117 for women hitting from the front tees.
On course 100, 150 and 200 yards (plus 250 on par fives) are posted on the fairways of all par fours and fives. Hole location info is provided for with color coded flags on the greens indicating front, middle and back pin placements. There are 49 bunkers situated along fairways and green side to contend with, but there are no water hazards on course.
Facilities on property include a full practice area with putting and chipping greens with sand bunker plus targeted grass driving range. The clubhouse includes a nicely stocked pro shop, restaurant/lounge open for lunch and dinner, locker rooms with showers for men and women and banquet facilities that can accommodate up to 400 guests for outings and special events. These facilities include 3 dining rooms and a bar.
The tree lined fairways are built on a mostly level terrain, with gradual elevation changes on the back nine. The green complexes are only slightly raised with gentle mounding and are only mildly undulating. Most of the slopes on the putting surfaces run from back to front. Most tee boxes present finely landscaped views of the fairways that often are framed by trees on each side.
