BROOKLEDGE GOLF CLUB (330) 971-8416
Ohio golf course review
Nestled in the City of Cuyahoga Falls on over 120 acres of rolling hills and woodlands, Brookledge Golf Club, designed by nationally renowned course architect Arthur Hills is one of the finest public golf courses in Northeast Ohio. This par 71, 6,396 yard course has recently undergone a one million dollar upgrade. A new aeration system has been installed and every bunker has been replaced and improved with sculpted white sand traps.
Fairways are tree lined, leaving little room for error off the tees and on the approach to the green. The rolling hilly terrain adds to the challenge along with the tall grass naturalized areas which surround landing zones. Green complexes are slightly elevated, with mild mounding and bunkering to guard them. The putting surfaces are very mildly undulated, slightly sloping to cause very little brake in putts. Late in the round trees begin to play a major role. The long par five 16th features a large tree in the fairway just before the green, and the par four 17th also has a tree in the fairway, this time, effecting the tee shot.
The newly redecorated clubhouse features a stocked pro shop, friendly staff, a snack bar serving hot dogs and sandwiches, veranda overlooking play on the 18th hole, and a pavilion used for outings and banquets. The Brookledge Academy and Practice Range offers over 200 grass tee areas, as well as a newly renovated putting green, chipping area and five target greens. Golf Lessons are available for adults and youths on an individual or group basis, and personalized club fittings and club repair are available.
This layout features four tee areas creating a short and inviting course for beginners or a longer and demanding course to the low handicapper. The tee boxes measure in distances and slopes of 6396 yards/120 slope, 5881 yards/114 slope, 5401 yards/109 slope, and 4786 yards with a slope of 114 for women playing the front tees. As the slopes indicate, this is a player friendly course providing the opportunity for a relaxed round, and low scores.
Yardage on course is marked on all sprinkler heads measured to the front, middle, and back of greens, as well as 150 yard stakes in the middle of the fairway. On the greens, a red flag indicates a front pin position, yellow for middle, and blue flag means the pin is towards the back of the putting surface. There are a total of 33 sand bunkers located near fairways and greens, and 7-holes feature water hazards in the form of streams that must be carried off of tees or on the approach to the greens.
