Boulder Creek, in Streetsboro less than 40 minutes from Cleveland and Akron, is a 7,462 yard par 72 Championship course with bent grass greens, fairways, and tee boxes. The greens feature G2 Bent Grass, developed at Penn State University from green samples taken from Augusta National in the 1980's. Notable course accolades include: #8 Best New Upscale Course In America -Golf Digest 2003, #2 Public Course in Ohio - Golf Week 2011, and #10 Public Course in Ohio - Golf Magazine 2010.
Yardage is well marked on the cart paths and fairways with measurements to center green. Daily pin placement sheets are included in each cart to provide valuable hole locations. There are five sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 7,462 yards/137 slope, 6996 yards/132 slope, 6457 yards/126 slope, 5586yards/ 116 slope for men and 129 slope for women, and 5048 yards with a slope of 122 for women playing the forward tees.
As the slope ratings listed above indicate, this is a long but fair course. Both the front and back nine feature 2 par threes and 2 par fives which is common, however, each nine begins with a 600 yard par five running parallel to each other. In total, 64 bunkers protect greens and fairways, and water comes into play on 8 holes including the island green par 3 17th.
Flower beds, manicured bushes, rock formations and nicely decorated ponds are situated near tee boxes and greens adding to the beauty if this immaculately conditioned layout. Parallel fairways are separated by bushes allowing golfers to focus without distractions from other players on neighboring holes. The terrain is hilly with some slightly sloping fairways, elevated tee boxes and greens and a few water carries. The 549 yard par five 6th features a split fairway with bunkers to the right and an uphill approach shot for those who choose the fairway to the left.
The clubhouse amenities include a stocked pro shop, banquet facilities with seating for up to 150 people and the new Halfway Grill featuring gourmet sandwiches, hot dogs, and a full bar.
