BEAVER CREEK GOLF CLUB (937)320-0742
Ohio golf course review
Beavercreek Golf Club, located just miles east of Dayton, is a premier public golf facility with the private club feel. Nestled amongst woods and meandering streams, this par 72, 7030 yard championship course was rated 4-1/2 stars by Golf Digest in 2008-2009. The golf academy at Beaver creek provides world class instruction, including personal lessons, group clinics, youth camps, and also facilitates club fitting.
The clubhouse amenities include everything a private country club would offer. A stocked pro shop, professional staff, locker rooms with showers, full service bar and grill room, and banquet facility- the ideal setting for outings and events. The practice area includes a targeted range and a large putting/chipping green for a warm up before a round of 18.
The terrain on course is hilly and mounded with sloping fairways which wind thru wooded areas, lakes and streams. Landing zones provide room off the tees, but also challenge golfers to hit from uneven lies as they attempt the approach. Bunkering is featured mostly off to the sides of the greens, which leaves players a clean approach shot and bump and run opportunities. The putting surfaces are consistently even with the surrounding terrain, and have a mild slope and undulation.
There are 4 sets of tee areas which measure in distance and slope - 7030 yards/137 slope, 6488 yards/ 131 slope, 6118 yards/ 127 slope for men, 137 slope for women, and 4101 yards with a slope of 125 for women hitting from the front tees. This track features some long par fours- measuring from 380 to 442 yards, average par threes- all between 175 and 200 yards, and challenging par fives, including the short, 516 yard 7th, surrounded by eight bunkers from fairway landing zones to the green.
In total, 32 sand bunkers challenge golfers near the greens and fairways, and 10 holes feature water in many forms on this challenging yet fair layout. The detailed yardage marking system includes markers in the fairway and on the cart path from 100, 150, and 200 yards, 150 yard stakes, and sprinkler heads measured to the center of the green. Hole diagrams on the scorecards provide front, middle or back pin locations.
