Ohio Golf Course Review

Woodland Golf Club - Ohio Golf Course

Woodland Golf Club is located in Cable, Ohio, just northwest of Columbus. A pleasurable golf experience is to be had at this 6473 yard par 71 championship design. The clubhouse is a popular location for outings and events mainly due to the excellent and friendly service the staff strives to maintain for all of their guests. This beautiful layout features tree lined fairways on rolling hills which lead to finely manicured greens.

Four sets of tee boxes play to distances and slopes measuring 6473 yards/121 slope, 6039 yards/120 slope, 5322/199 slope, and 4866 with a slope of 119 for ladies who choose to hit from the forward tees. As the slope ratings indicate, this short layout provides golfers of all skill levels with opportunity to mark low scores.

The on course yardage marking system includes colored plates in the middle of the fairways at 100, 150, and 200 yards from center green. Colored flags indicate front, middle, and back pin positions. There are only 26 sand bunkers situated near the landing zones along the fairways, or greenside. The lack of sand is made up for by water hazards in all shapes and forms that come into play on 13 holes.

Practice facilities include a targeted grass range, plus a large putting green and chipping area for a good short warm-up. The clubhouse features a pro shop, snack bar serving lunch items, and dining area which holds up to 150 people for golf outings and banquets.

Fairways are tree lined on both sides, challenging golfers to hit accurate shots from the tee. Rolling and sloping landing zones create the need for good shot-making ability. Green complexes are fairly open, with little protection from mounding or bunkering. The putting surfaces themselves are sloping and can cause difficult situations if the ball is not strategically placed on the greens. It is important to pay due attention to the pin placements on the approaches.
