Indian Springs Golf Club is located just northwest of Columbus in Mechanicsburg. This is a 7109 yard par 72 championship layout with lush, bent grass fairways and manicured bent grass greens. The clubhouse is a popular location for outings and events mainly due to the excellent and friendly service the staff strives to maintain for all of their guests.
The on course yardage marking system includes yardages posted on all sprinkler heads and colored plates in the middle of the fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards from center green. Colored flags indicate front, middle, and back pin positions. Bunkering is understated with 25 sand traps in total situated near the landing zones along the fairways on only a handful of holes, but mostly greenside. Four holes have water hazards in play.
The par four 1st and 10th both dog-leg around a large pond, and par 3's seven and eleven feature water carries. Landing zones off the tees are fairly wide - however the terrain is well mounded, causing challenging, uneven lies. The green complexes are usually elevated and medium in size with plenty of mounding to disrupt approach shots from all angles.
Practice facilities include a targeted grass range and a large practice putting green – enough for players to arrive ready at the first tee. The clubhouse features a pro shop, snack bar serving lunch items, and dining area which holds up to 170 people for golf outings and banquets. The scorecards include a small map with hole diagrams and helpful information.
Four sets of tee boxes play to distances and slopes measuring 7109 yards/137 slope, 6630 yards/135 slope, 6003/134 slope, and 5460 with a slope of 131 from the forward tees. As the slope ratings indicate, scratch golfers will be challenged by the length of the back tees. High handicapped average golfers and ladies can choose to play from a far shorter distance, but will not get much of a break from the natural difficulties of this beautiful layout.
