GLENEAGLES GOLF CLUB (330-425-3334)
Ohio Golf Course Review -7/19/07
Gleneagles Golf Club in Twinsburg just southeast of Cleveland is a 6500 yard championship course that was ranked # 14 on a recent listing of the area's most challenging layouts, and also was named as # 8 of the top ten places to go for business golf (by Inside Business Magazine). The facility also has earned 3 1/2 stars by Golf Digest Places to Play.
Owned and operated by the city of Twinsburg and designed by Ted McAnlis, this course provides challenge in the form of numerous water features (hazards come into play in some shape or form on 11 holes) and strategic bunkering (28 white sand bunkers in total). The hilly tree lined terrain also features fairway and greenside mounding that can challenge golfer's abilities to get up and down.
There are 3 sets of tee boxes on each hole, that play to distances and slopes measuring 6545 yards/124 slope, 5918 yards/120 slope, 5357 yards/113 slope and 5173 yards with a slope of 118 for women hitting from the red tees. As these ratings and distances indicate, this is a player friendly design, that can especially be appreciated by ladies, seniors, juniors, plus mid to high handicappers. There is enough trouble however, and the grounds and course are well kept - to keep it interesting for the best of players.
On property is a driving range with mat and grass tee stations (grass open for lessons plus for the public Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday), short game area with sand bunker, plus putting green. The clubhouse includes well equipped golf shop stocked with the latest in equipment and accessories, with custom fitting available. An on property restaurant/lounge serves breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.
The course hosts a junior golf league with clinics and schedules for 12-17 year olds that are serious about the game. Individual and series lessons are also available for all levels of golfers, and outing capacities at this facility tops out at 144 people. On course, yardage stakes are posted at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and some sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green on par fours and fives. Color coded flags indicate the front, middle or back hole locations.
Golfers will appreciate the rear cart covers, which protect golf bags during inclement weather. The rate structure here is very reasonable. For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
