ELLSWORTH MEADOWS GOLF CLUB (330-655-2267)
Ohio Golf Course Review - 7/19/07
Ellsworth Meadows Golf Club in Hudson just southeast of Cleveland, is a par 72 championship layout that has been recognized by Crain's Cleveland Business as a top 12 public golf course in the region. The layout features a mix of open and wooded holes along a rolling terrain, with contoured fairways bordered by plentiful water features and strategic sand bunkering.
Doglegs that veer in either direction, stream crossings, plus ponds and lakes create numerous risk/reward opportunities and provide aesthetic beauty and challenge. As a respected member of the International Audubon Society Cooperative Sanctuary, Ellsworth Meadows also features an environment that is home to abundant native wildlife.
Water hazards come into play in some shape or form on 9 holes, and bunkering is minimal as less than 2 dozen sand traps line the landing zones or are situated greenside. Four sets of tees play to distances and slopes measuring 6831 yards/130 slope, 6367 yards/123 slope, 6003 yards/124 slope and 4920 yards with a slope of 124 for ladies hitting from the forward sets.
The course is well marked with stakes in the middle of the fairways and plates on either side from 100,150 and 200 yards from center green on all par fours and fives. In between the stakes there are yellow plates in 25 yard increments from 75 to 250 yards out. Daily pin placements are determined by red, white and blue flags on all greens.
On property the practice facility features two large putting greens, a grass targeted driving range, and a chipping area with a sand bunker. The clubhouse includes a pro shop, a snack bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, an outdoor pavilion which can be used for golf outings and banquets.
