Blue Heron Golf Club in Medina, is a beautiful 27-hole championship course that is managed and operated by Troon Golf. Ranked the # Best new Public Course in America under $75 in 2006 (Golf Digest), this fine layout features distinctive topography with natural ravines, lakes, ponds and streams, and routing that takes golfers through the forested terrain.
Golfers will encounter significant elevation changes from tee to green along the rolling, manicured fairways that lead to true rolling bent grass putting surfaces. Recognized as one of the Cleveland area's premier layouts, Blue Heron is known for its consistently fine conditioning from tee to green, aesthetically pleasing landscaping, plus amenities that make this a first class golf experience.
On property is a 27,000 square foot clubhouse with well stocked pro shop, upscale locker rooms with showers for men and women, and the River Styx Grille and outdoor patio which provides a wide range of dining experiences with scheduled entertainment. The Blue Heron Banquet and Conference Center is a full service and elegant event facility that can accommodate up to 400 people for weddings and special events.
As a Troon managed golf facility, Blue Heron provide top notch service and amenities which includes a full service practice facility with targeted grass range, a dedicated short game area with sand bunker, plus two putting greens. Golfers will appreciate the Pro Link GPS on all carts, and will also find that sprinkler heads are measured tot eh center of the green, and 150 yard stakes a posted on all par fours and fives.
The 27-hole layout includes 103 sand bunkers in various configurations and sizes, and water comes into play on 14 holes. There also are numerous carries over ravines/waste/natural areas - though most are very reasonable in length. The images in this review are of the Highlands and Lakes nines - which as the pictures indicate - are extremely beautiful.
Each nine provides 6 sets of tee boxes, with slopes on the Highlands/Lakes design ranging from 124 to 144. The Highlands plays from 2659 to 3692 yards; the Lakes measures between 2372 and 3240 yards, and the River Course measures 3624 yards from the tips and 2659 yards from the front tees.
